Rachel and Taylor – Emotional, Stylish and Fun Wedding at the Jellyfish Restaurant in Punta Cana

0039racheltaylorPINI arrived in pouring rain excited to meet my last destination couple of the year. Thankfully Rachel and her girls arrived at the same time and they were treated with umbrella by Jellyfish staff:) This wedding was not only very beautiful but also very emotional. Lot’s of warm and fuzzy moments and so homey. Country music at the reception made me almost tear up after a long month of traveling. I loved it and everything worked out great despite stormy weather and rain.


How did you met Rachel and Taylor?

We are high school sweethearts and met in grade 10 science class.. I think Taylor sat a row behind me 🙂 We also worked at the same fish and chip restaurant the summer leading into grade 11.


Proposal story: We got engaged in Punta Cana on March 3rd, 2011 – our 3 1/2 year anniversary! I don’t remember all of the exact details but it went something like this. We had dinner reservations at the Garden Grill that evening. We arrived to find our table covered in rose petals with champagne. Following a nice dinner, we headed back to our room to change and wander around the resort. As I was grabbing clothes out of the closet, I turned around and Taylor was down on one knee. I don’t remember everything he said, but I remember saying YES! Later on he told me that they original plan was to have done it out on the balcony at sunset… but we missed it every time!


How do you like to spend time together: Lounging on the couch on Sundays watching NFL Football, going out for dinner and a movie date nights, mini putt and walks.


Your best moment of the wedding by Rachel: The best moment of our wedding was having the first look before the ceremony. It was a completely different experience from walking down the aisle. It gave us time to just be us. I found that it took away some of the nerves of walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time.


Wedding theme/motif/what inspired your style: Romantic elegance with a light touch of rustic.


Favourite wedding detail: FOOD! The food at Jellyfish is absolutely to die for. I was originally set on a different menu, but tried the sea bass at our tasting and fell in love! All of our guests raved about the food, especially the sea bass.


Wedding song: Only You Can Love Me This Way – Keith Urban. We decided on this as our wedding song because to me it tells the story of how we love each other unconditionally through the good and bad time. Plus, I’m a huge country music junkie and it was the second concert we saw together.


Honeymoon or dream place to go: The Maldives.

How did a wedding go?  Our wedding was a dream come true. I was a bit nervous the day of the wedding as it was pouring on and off all day. Thank goodness for my two Anna’s who knew that the rain would clear for our ceremony. My favourite moments of the day were meeting both Anna’s (I couldn’t have done it without you!), and seeing the decor Gianna and Clara came up with. These ladies made my dream wedding come true! My advice to future brides is not to stress. I emailed ideas to Jellyfish as to what I was thinking decor wise and wasn’t overly picky on what the end result was. I had certain signs that were a must, the chandelier and our colour scheme. I can say that Clara and Gianna did a fantastic job. I let them use their imagination to create what they thought would resemble my romantic elegance with a touch of rustic theme.
