Merry Christmas and yummy New Year:)

Scrool down for wedding pictures;)

We are foodies and every Christmas I prepare, bake and cook from scratch all special old fashioned goodies. I will try to share some of those Heritage European yumminess  this Winter – starting with Ginger Bread. Stay tuned for more.

You will need:

2 cups  of backing flour

100 g of butter

baking powder

5 eggs

200 g of sugar

cup of honey

150 g of walnuts or pecans

ginger bread spices – you can buy ready mix in German or Polish store or mix and ground:

cloves, ginger, muscat, jamaican spice, cinnamon (you will need 4 tea spoons of spices)

3 spoons of caramel (you can use brown sugar instead)

1. combine butter with sugar, caramel, honey and egg yolks

2. beat egg whites with a spoon of sugar

3. combine everything with flour, spices, nuts and baking powder and bake for 1 hour in 180C.

You can finish with chocolate glazing .Cut like a sandwich and fill with plum or any other sour marmalade before glazing. Wrap in aluminum foil and leave for couple of days.
