Krista and Damien – Winter Elopement in the Rockies

Krista’s and Damien’s wedding in the mountains was intimate and fun event. We had a pleasure to be a part of this beautiful winter wedding. See preview of their pictures.

Little bit more about couple and their special day:

How did you meet? : we initially met in grade 9 at a high school hockey game although, Damien still denies that to this day.  We re-met in grade 11 (2000) at a mutual friends house.

Engagement story : we never really intended on getting married but, I always said I would be content with a diamond.  On our 10 year anniversary I got my “non-engagement” engagement ring (Feb 2010).  We always said that if we were to get married it would be 12.12.12.  On Oct 23, 2012 we decided to get hitched on 12.12.12.  We had 7 weeks to get everything planned and in order.  It was a total whirl wind but, the day was just perfect and everything we off without a hitch.

How do you like to spend time together : we really enjoy going to the mountains on the weekend to hike, bike ride or snowshoe (depending on the season).  We also enjoy going to different restaurants to try new food.  During the week we’re pretty low key – cook supper together and relax with our fur babies.

Wedding theme/motif: Simple and low key – essentially an elopement as only the wedding guests knew we were getting married.

Wedding song, explain choice for song: Big Jet Plane – Angus and Julia Stone.  We both really love indie music and enjoy the song.  We also love to travel and hope to experience the world together.

Favourite wedding detail (favours, cake, food, band, etc.): I really enjoyed the cake topper.  It was a surprise to the groom and he LOVED it.  Apparently the mashed potatoes were a huge hit amongst the guests too lol

Honeymoon or dream place to go: we went to Negril, Jamaica 10 days after the wedding – for Christmas.  We had actually booked Jamaica before we decided to get married but, it turned out to be our honeymoon.  Stayed at Couples Negril.  I would highly recommend it to anyone.  The hotel itself was a bit dated and kind of rustic but, the food was to DIE for (we’re amateur foodies).  The beach was also incredible.
